Celebrating Disability Pride Month

July is Disability Pride Month!

It’s a time to celebrate the strength, resilience and contributions of people with disabilities. It marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which was signed into law on July 26, 1990. This was landmark legislation that affirmed the civil rights of millions of people.

But Disability Pride is more than a historic milestone—it’s a statement that disability is a natural part of human diversity, not something to be hidden or pitied. It’s about visibility, empowerment and embracing identity with confidence and pride.

This month also reminds us how much work remains. People with disabilities still face barriers in education, employment, healthcare, housing and accessible public spaces. By celebrating Disability Pride, we challenge ableism, break down stigma and spark essential conversations about equity and access.

One of the ways we are doing that in 2025 is by hosting a monthly webinar series called Understanding Ableism. Check our calendar for upcoming webinars and watch our past conversations for free on our YouTube channel.

Happy Disability Pride Month!
