CCBMDR Staff

Welcome!

Welcome to the website of the Center for Capacity Building on Minorities with Disabilities Research in the Department of Disability and Human Development at the University of Illinois at Chicago. This website is designed to give you updated information on our activities and resources.

Our Center, funded by National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), works to build the capacity of state vocational rehabilitation agencies (VR), community based-organizations (CBOs) and Centers for Independent Living to document the impact of their programs and develop more culturally competent services. In addition, we are devoted to improving the capacity of researchers to include individuals with disabilities from underrepresented groups in their research, outreach and dissemination efforts.

Our work involves a national network of collaborators who are conducting a variety of research, evaluation, and training projects to fulfill our mission (see Projects for more information). Research collaborators are located at the following institutions: Boston University, Portland State University, University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, University of North Texas, and YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities.
